THE STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING
 
"This art was inspired by a vivid image that came to me just as I was falling asleep - a Highland cow standing by a puddle, an egret perched on its back, and an unexpected grand piano reflected in the water below.
I quickly sketched the idea before it faded.
 
The egret holds a special place in my heart; for the past month, a real egret has been visiting our front yard regularly, creating a little everyday magic that I couldn’t resist capturing.
 
If you look closely, her reflection becomes a music notebook, and her beak turns into a stick floating in the puddle - small details that make the scene feel even more alive.
 
The puddle itself brings back memories of my elementary school days, when a giant puddle on the playground tempted me to test out my new boots. I ended up soaked to my waist and sent home - a story my family still laughs about.
 
The piano in the reflection nods to my childhood, too.
Like many kids of my generation, I took piano lessons for a year (a requirement in our family!), though unlike my brother, who played for eight years, I happily retired early - preferring to follow my own creative passions.
Painted entirely with coffee, this piece invites you to look twice and find the unexpected beauty hidden in ordinary moments."
